This is an update to my March review of The Pump House where I wrote "I won't be returning." I lied and I'm glad I did. The Pump House has worked out the new restaurant kinks and is fast becoming a favorite of mine. The menu is the standard bar food (burgers, sandwiches, wings), with an inventive gourmet flare. A good go-to is the signature Pumpjack Burger, with pepper jack cheese, onion jam, tomato jam, and banana peppers. It's perfect with the most amazing french fries, crisp on the outside and mashed potato soft on the inside. The Pump House Salad is another great choice. It's loaded with vegetables, feta cheese, and a tasty house dressy. The Pump House is sharply decorated and clean. Recently added is an entire wall of flat screen TVs making sure wherever you sit offers a great view of the game. The bar is well stocked, offering a handful of draft microbrews with a rotating selection in the bottle. The wait staff is generally attentive and friendly. Service is usually quick, but it can bog down at times during busier lunches and dinner hours. All things considered, the Pump House is best restaurant in Wood River, hands down. I'm happy to be regular.

Was in town on business and had the Pump House referred to me by a friend of a friend. Was a nice bar and grill. Good interior, tasty food, and friendly staff. I don't get to the area often, but went there with business associates where we enjoyed a few drinks and burgers before we had to head back to the hotel. Service - prompt and pleasant. Food - well cooked and seasoned. Beer selection- very nice. Will be back to try it again next time I'm in the area.

I love going to the pump house! The food is amazing! I eat the salmon sandwich and homemade chips at least once a week. The bar is beautifully designed, the decor and vibe is very modern and awesome! They often have great music on the weekends. Not to mention that you can karaoke pretty much any night that there isn't a band! The staff is also fantastic, very friendly. I recommend this establishment to anyone visiting wood river, or any resident of wood river!

I really enjoy the pump house, the atmosphere is nice and the wait staff is very friendly. I enjoy most of the food, their specials are so cheap they practically pay you to come here and eat. Though I really wish I could figure out why their soda always taste a little off. As a transplant from Springfield IL I cannot help but think that this place could really use a horseshoe.

Great service and a fun place that is obviously growing, since they are adding on. Spicy, but good food! Our server greeted us immediately and accommodated our request for take out. We recommend you give them a try!!!

Had lunch there today based on 3 positive reviews. Cool atmosphere but the food was barely edible and the service, while friendly, was slow and inattentive. I got there at 12:15 and the place was 1/4 full, so definitely not a lunch rush happening. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich & fries. It took about 25 minutes to get my food. The fries were home-style and totally inconsistent. Some were warm some were cool but all were like chewing leather. Never had anything like it. The sandwich bun had been recently frozen, and had a peculiar crunch, almost like I was biting into a very thin layer of plastic. Total bill with iced tea was $10. There were lots of beer varieties available and same goes for televisions all tuned to various sports channels. Looked like a great place to grab a beer. I should have just gone to McD's.

I stopped in on a late Saturday afternoon. The crowd was light. College football was playing on the TVs on each side. The place was clean and the barkeep was attractive and courteous. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and asked if I could have onion rings instead of fries. My request was honored. I ordered a Guiness from the decent (but by no means extensive) choice of draught beers. The sandwich was OK. The pork was a little on the dry side and I prefer a Smokey flavor which it lacked. The bun was fresh and the onion rings were hot. I would say it was a pretty good late-afternoon meal. While I was there two things happened that you don't normally see. Av young man came in with his grandfather who was drunk. The waits handled him quite well as she refused to serve him without letting the it escalate into some kind of stand off. Them as I was about to leave, two women dressed as bridesmaids came in aloneand ordered shots. I gotta say... that's a first for me. I liked it and would go back.
